Heather Lewin
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MBACP)
I offer Professional and Confidential Counselling for Couples and individuals.
I have worked in education for over 20 years. I also practiced as a School Counsellor. I learnt that in order to connect with young people, I had to take time to understand their world. I came to understand how early childhood experiences impacts self- belief, attitudes and behaviours; in turn, affecting how you see yourself and relate to others. I developed an interest in how our experiences from the past can affect our present. This has greatly influenced how I am able to work with and relate to my clients.
I worked as a counsellor within the National Health Service, working with a range of client issues within a GP surgery. I later worked long term in a community -based charity.
I have worked with clientele from all backgrounds, beliefs and life paths – Creatives and Influencers.
I am an experienced practitioner who has worked with a wide range of mental health, psychological and emotional difficulties. These include but are not limited to anxiety, bereavement, depression, panic, recurring negative thoughts, stress, self - harm, low self-esteem, life events/transitions, trauma and work place issues.
My lived experiences and working in diverse communities have given me sensitivity to individual difference – understanding that everyone has their own perspective and values.
I have in depth awareness of the impact that social, cultural and economic factors can have on mental well-being.
